(Decoding, fluency and comprehension strategies) Reading responses will be completed on many of the books read. (Students will be assessed using DIBELs three times a year and progressed monitored)

Systematically collect reading comprehension responses after the completion of each book as an assessment of independence in learning. Helps develop stamina. Each 2nd grader will read for 30 minutes by the end of the school year.
Systematically provide opportunities for independent reading; teach independent reading behaviors such as building stamina; and offer students time to make written responses as evidence of learning; gives student the opportunity to accurately respond to literature with adequate details from the book.
